    Sarah Delfas

    Level 3 teacher

“When you inhale, you are taking the strength from God. When you exhale, it represents the service you are giving to the world."    BKS Iyengar

Sarah has been teaching Iyengar yoga since 2002 and holds a level 3 Iyengar yoga teaching certificate.  She believes strongly that yoga is for all and the legacy of BKS Iyengar’s devotion and exploratory practice has enabled all to access its wonders. She enjoys teaching all ages and all abilities. A mother of four, she has experienced the help yoga brings through the changes pregnancy and motherhood bring and witnessed the joy and benefits it brings to children and teenagers. She enjoys teaching beginners as much as mentoring more experienced students and is always grateful to students for coming to class and offering her the chance to learn more.

Sarah owes her love and commitment to yoga to the work of Guruji BKS Iyengar, his teacher Krishnamacharya and the sages who inspired them, and to her teachers who have taught and continue to teach her thanks to and in the spirit of Guruji's dedication. She discovered yoga whilst a university student, with Kofi Busia, and advanced her learning in recent years with Brenda Booth, both of whom studied directly with Guruji and generously shared their knowledge and experience. Sarah also regularly assists in the therapy class at Maidstone Iyengar Yoga Centre to further her studies of the therapeutic aspects of Iyengar yoga. She has visited RIMYI for classes and informs her regular practice with weekly classes from Prashant Iyengar and Rajiv Chanchani, to whom she is enormously grateful for the light and depth their teaching brings.

    Anne Wendt

    Level 1 teacher

“It is through the alignment of the body that I discovered the alignment of my mind, self and intelligence” BKS Iyengar

Anne has been practising Iyengar Yoga since 2007, just after the birth of her first child when she walked into a yoga class exhausted and immediately knew this was for her. When her second child was a toddler her teacher Wendy McGuire encouraged her to train to teach. Anne studied with Brenda Booth to become a yoga teacher and has been teaching in London and West Sussex since 2014 as a level 1 Iyengar Yoga teacher.

Anne strongly believes that yoga gives us the tools to listen to our bodies and learn to provide what is needed to nourish the body, mind and soul. There is nothing like going upside down to gain a different perspective to life's tribulations or to notice tension and blocked energies and being able to release them through the practice of asana and feeling vitalised afterwards! Anne has a special interested in finding equanimity and a state of evenness in life through yoga and enjoys exploring this path in her self- practice and with her students. Anne enjoys teaching beginners and more experienced students and as an occupational therapist also teaches yoga to children from neurodiverse and trauma backgrounds.

Anne continues to study with senior teachers from the UK and India and is tremendously grateful to BKS Iyengar, her teachers in his lineage and to her students for the gift of yoga which has helped her through stressful periods in her life and continues to teach her compassion and gratefulness during happy times. Anne is a member of Kent Iyengar Yoga and regularly meets with other Iyengar yoga teachers to prepare for her next level assessment.
